Hitting the Water: Our First Regatta Experience
In June, a crew of eight from Priory Concept Group took part in the Room to Reward Annual Regatta and we had no idea what we were letting ourselves in for!
With zero sailing experience between us, we were thankfully matched with a brilliant skipper who guided us through the day. Things kicked off with a continental breakfast and some generous gift bags (including a branded water bottle, travel phone charger, and a mini bottle of Hawksbill rum, the perfect warm-up for a day on the water!).
After a quick sailing tutorial, learning the ropes, literally, we were out on the water, racing in three competitive heats. It was a challenge, but the teamwork and energy made it an unforgettable experience.
Teamwork, Competition and Good Fun
What began as light-hearted sailing quickly turned seriously competitive, and we loved it.
From adjusting sails to calling the turns, every person on board had a role to play. It was amazing to see how quickly we adapted and came together as a team. The races pushed us physically and mentally, and the spirit of healthy competition kept everyone motivated.
Whether we were winning or just staying afloat, we had a great time working together, cheering each other on, and soaking in the (sometimes choppy!) sea air.
An Evening to Celebrate and Support a Great Cause
After the excitement on the water, we had time to regroup and get ready for the evening.
The Harbar Hotel terrace was the perfect setting to relax with cocktails, connect with the other teams, and enjoy a warm summer evening. We then sat down for a stunning three-course dinner, followed by a lively charity auction and raffle, all in support of Room to Reward, an incredible charity recognising and rewarding hidden heroes in our communities.
The entire day was brilliantly organised, filled with fun, and reminded us of the power of coming together for a good cause. We were proud to be part of it, and we are already looking forward to next year!
